I hope to see you there!

“Blood Enemies” Audio Book Released

Posted on: No Comments

It’s narrated by Stefan Rudnicki, who narrated the previous six volumes in the series.  I’ve just spent more hours than I maybe should have going from place to place with my hard-copy and queuing up the audio book just to hear Rudnicki read this part, and this part, and, oh, can’t forget this part.  Also this part.  And particularly that part.  It’s lovely, lovely, lovely.  Thank you Stefan!!

“Blood Enemies” release day celebration on Reddit, Tuesday April 4th, 5:00 p.m. PDST!

Posted on: No Comments

Please join me Tuesday, April 4th, on reddit, for an “Ask Me Anything” (AMA) event to celebrate the publication of the seventh novel in the “Under Jurisdiction” series (The Life and Hard Times of “Uncle” Andrej Koscuisko, who is Not a Nice Man) with an online Q&A starting at 5:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (that’s 1700 hours; or 8:00 p.m., 2000 hours, for you lovely people on the east coast).  (And 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday the 5th in Beijing.)

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT’S REALLY HERE.  And the audio book from audible.com will be released tomorrow, too, with Stefan Rudnicki narrating.  Oh, I can’t wait.

Okay.  You can lurk and listen all you want (they tell me) without a reddit account.  When the time comes, you go to https://www.reddit.com/r/books/, where you will find my event announced under the title of “Twenty Years Under Jurisdiction:  Science Fiction in the Grand Tradition” when I go “live” around 4:45 tomorrow afternoon.  You will need a reddit account to participate actively in the discussion, but I recently opened a reddit account, and the process was painless/free/non-intrusive/immediate.  For that you go to www.reddit.com/login.

Oh, I hope you’ll come.

There’ll be a reading-and-signing on Thursday the 6th at the University Bookstore here in Seattle at 7:00 p.m — for people who are interested in coming to an in-person event.  I hear there may be cake.  Also postcards (I’ve seen it, it’s a beauty).  And bookmarks.

I never thought I’d see this day . . .

(If you can’t make it but you’d like a postcard, send me your snailmail address and I’ll send you three (grin).  All replies to this post are reviewed before they’re approved, so I’ll be able to ensure that your snailmail address will not be publicly posted.  Or else, you know, it’s the fifth level for me, at least.  And I’ll remove any “escapes” promptly.)

Please join me Tuesday on reddit

. . . because I’m having an “Ask Me Anything” event to celebrate the release of my seventh “Under Jurisdiction” novel, “Blood Enemies,” on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the publication of my debut novel (“An Exchange of Hostages”).

Shortly before 5:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Savings Time (8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings Time) I’ll be loading a blurb and a link that will be on the front page at https://www.reddit.com/books/ .  Click on that link to find me!  Ask me questions!  Mostly about “Blood Enemies,” and the “Under Jurisdiction” universe, and The Life and Hard Times of “Uncle” Andrej Koscuisko, who is Not a Nice Man!

I’ll be there until we’re done talking (grin).  Looking forward to seeing you there!  (You won’t need an account to listen in, but you need a reddit account to participate in the question-asking.  I have a reddit account.  It was a painless process.  The URL for getting an account is https://www.reddit.com/login .)

(Also, there’ll be a reading/signing “launch party” at the University of Washington Bookstore in the University District here in Seattle at 7:00 p.m. PDST.  But I’ll be posting a reminder/plea for people to come to that event on Wednesday.)

Upcoming events: Launch Party! “Ask Me Anything” on reddit!

It’s hard for me to believe, but the official release date for “Blood Enemies” is one week from today . . . Tuesday, April 4th.  I have two events next week to tell you about:  virtual (AMA on reddit, coming up Tuesday) and, er, actual? at the University of Washington Bookstore on Thursday, April 6th.

My AMA is scheduled for 5:00 local time on the 4th (8:00 EST), and I’ll be back with more details on how to find it.  I’ve never been on reddit, so please come and keep me company; I’ll answer spoiler-free questions about “Blood Enemies” and any other questions you may have about the series over-all or previous novels.  It’s gonna be a good time.

I’ll be reading and signing at the University Bookstore next Thursday, April 6th, 7:00 p.m.  Here’s a link to the event!  Please come!

“Blood Enemies” audio book

Posted on: No Comments

I’m delighted to be able to report that the audio book of “Blood Enemies” is available for pre-order from audible.com.  Its release date is April 4th, to correspond with the print release of the text-format novel; and it is narrated once again by Stefan Rudnicki, who did such a killer job (you should pardon the expression) with the other six novels Under Jurisdiction.  I can hardly wait!!

Free short story on Baen site!

If you go to www.baen.com you’ll find a link to my new short story, “Into Gonebeyond.”  Set shortly after the end of “Warring States,” it’s a transparent but spoiler-free attempt to whet your appetite for my new novel, “Blood Enemies,” to be released on the 4th of April.  I hope you like it!

I plan to attend FOGCon 2017 in Walnut Creek, CA, over the second weekend of March, where they have kindly provided me with a place on the schedule (Saturday night, March 11th) to talk about “Twenty Years Under Jurisdiction,” also known as “Andrej Koscuisko:  Still P*ssing People Off after Twenty Years.”

Here’s a link:

“Blood Enemies” eARC available! Eeeee!

Posted on: 2 Comments

That’s “electronic advance reading copy.”  That means the final typo run isn’t reflected in the novel, but otherwise, it is the Real Deal.

Here is a buy-link:  http://www.baen.com/blood-enemies-earc.html

I’m so excited!!

(Print release date is April 7th, twenty years after the publication of my debut novel “An Exchange of Hostages.”  And you can catch up on the entire series with Baen’s two omnibus editions of the six preceding novels.)

In honor of the release of the eARC I’ve updated the first chapter posted on the novel’s page here on this web site.  It’s got some rough stuff (sorry) but there’s Robert come to see Andrej for the first time since they got to Gonebeyond, something about Stildyne that Robert didn’t know, and other goodies.  I hope you enjoy it, because this is as peaceful and quiet as it gets for the rest of this novel.

Twenty Years Under Jurisdiction

I’ve updated this site to include my forthcoming new novel “Blood Enemies” as well as the new (print) omnibus editions of the novels “Under Jurisdiction.”  You can find them under Novels -> Jurisdiction Series -> Omnibuses.

Omnibus #1 contains “An Exchange of Hostages,” “Prisoner of Conscience,” and “Angel of Destruction,” with a Thoughtful New Introduction.  It is on the shelves and ready for purchase now.  You can go to Baen to listen to a two-part podcast interview on the Baen site re:  “Fleet Inquisitor” that was a ton of fun to do.

Omnibus #2 (“Hour of Judgement,” “The Devil and Deep Space,” and “Warring States”) is  scheduled for publication in February of 2017, with the new novel “Blood Enemies” to follow in April, 2017.  Go look at the gorgeous cover of “Blood Enemies” (go to Novels -> Jurisdiction Series -> Novels).  I’ll wait.  (upload Jeopardy music)

This is a pretty big deal for me.  Not only is this a genuinely pivotal novel (from my point of view) in terms of the action of the novel and the lives of the characters, but it also represents an important anniversary for me:  In April, 2017, it will be exactly twenty years since the publication of my debut novel, “An Exchange of Hostages.”

The novels “Under Jurisdiction,” by me.  The life and hard times of “Uncle” Andrej Koscuisko, who is Not a Nice Man.  Or, alternatively, Andrej Koscuisko:  P*ssing People Off for Twenty Years Now.

I never thought I’d see the day.  Thanks for reading.

Cheers,

Susan
